On Tasting Snowflakes (Snow Crystals Challenge)
My head turned in
slow motion taking in the sight of my first snowfall. Incredibly white, like a curtain of downy feathers drifting
down to earth.
I wanted to run out and play; I wanted to jump for joy, I felt free. I was 19 years old and working,
I waited and watched; increasingly excited.
As we closed the day, the flakes still fell softly to the ground. I
stood still in awe, then stuck my tongue out to taste one or two, maybe three.
Cold, cold, and cold again. There was
no taste, I discovered. Like drinking water. So I closed my eyes and tasted again...Heaven's water, fresh and pure.

Galactic Invasion (Snow Crystals Challenge)
It looked like an alien lifeform laying there on the bench. I didn't know what it was, but it
didn't look good. I saw another fall and settle to the left; and then another to my right. My heart started to beat faster
as I thought, what in the world is this? Some form of Star Wars; maybe biological warfare I thought. We were being invaded,
I was sure of it! I took a hearty gulp from my flask, peach brandy to warm me, and warn me. I looked around for someone to
tell, but saw I was alone, facing this threat. They continued to fall all around me, settling on my hat, my coat, my gloves.
I became still and stared at the bench. They were mounting the forces as I swallowed another gulp of brandy. I became brave
with the internal warmth. I bent over to have a better look. In disbelief my jaw fell open, as my eyes told me what my
brain would not. Snow was falling from the sky. Freeform spatial dendrites they were, collecting in mounds to attack. I
turned and sat on them, and drained my flask.

Mop (One Word Challenge)
as i grabbed
the mop to wipe the bile once more from the floor, i wondered why i married you at all.
what did i see
in you.
i wrung out the mop and placed it oustside the back door and saw a feather falling- me.
